The Panel
Tuesday 6th April
Not a lot to report as I missed all the first game & half the second game
playing in the S&D League.
The two players with green knowledge, Alan Heaton & Roger Morgan both used
that advantage to win their first round games Morgan 31 - 19 with Chris
Heyes and Heaton 31 - 23 with Dave Thornley.
The play off was a much closer affair until the late teens when Alan Heaton
broke away with a 10 break eventually running out 31 - 24 to join Morrison
& Hitchen in the final night with the last place being filled on Thursday
from Andy Cairns, Charlie Bebbington, Neil Smith & myself. 7pm start as
usual.
What is apparent, is that bowls cannot compete with football as a
spectator attraction. With Wigan & Burnley playing locally & Liverpool
on TV, we had our lowest crowd of the competition.
