Two teams are flying the flag for women, albeit in
Division Seven of the Hotter Concept National Federation.
Bolton B's Vera Ashcroft, with a 21-4 victory over Jim
Cormican of Worth Valley, was the best of seven women's victors.
But Rochdale have gone furthest in the battle for
women's rights when their entire 24-player team against Heavy Woollens
consisted of women.
In the away leg at Overthorpe SC, the Rochdale women
won five matches but they had just two wins in the home leg at Bamford,
giving Heavy Woollens an overall 26-7 victory.
